Pros and cons of Grand Sumo Official App app for iPhone and iPad

Grand Sumo Official App app good for

I love this app. Its great for the international sumo fan however it has one MAJOR PROBLEM and that is that you know who wins a match before watching and that kind of spoils the excitement. The red highlights of winners should stop and the thumbnail stills of the match need to be changed from the end (where you can see who wins, to the faceoff or begining). Come-on no one wants to know who wins before watching! Id really love to throw away the silly mask Ive made for my screen and stop hitting the play button before the still immage appears. Slightly longer clips would be most appreciated. Fans want the ambiance.
I like this app a lot. It is very useful. A couple of things could make it more useful. I would like to have the ability to switch / toggle between English and Japanese. I can usually read the Kanji for the names of the wrestlers and only having them in English doesn’t help me learn to recognize their name when written in Kanji. Also a big problem with the video is that when I look at the video before playing it, it is obvious who won the bout before even watching. This is really disappointing. I want to become a tanimichi member but it is really not useful when it is so obvious who won without watching the bout. Otherwise this app has helped me learn a lot about sumo. I just think it could be even better.

Some bad moments

Over complex UI and looks as if it was written by a committee.
Great for checking results etc, but ¥600 for the video option is way too much. Id consider it if it was a one off payment but not every month.
Love this app! Makes viewing the matches very easy and can always re watch the matches if you become a patron . I gave 4 stars because I would like to find a way to support my favourite rikishi! Go aoiyama ! For 5 dollars a month it is worth it !
I love this app as it makes it easy to stay updated on all the Basho results. But it really earns its keep after you subscribe. Being able to watch every Makuuchi Division match, from the current Basho and past Bashos, makes this app a necessity for any true Sumo fan.
I am a huge sumo fan from America and think this app is great. I think the problem is in joining as a paid member (tanimachi). I think if you want me to pay you need to offer at least the chance to watch Juyo matches as well as Makkuchi. Also I hope you guys can increase your library of old matches from maybe as far back as early 90s? I know footage of that exists. Thank you
Contains all the info you need to keep up with the tournaments. Highly recommend subscribing to the monthly premium subscription if you, like me, dont have any other way to watch the matches. I am thrilled that Nihon Sumo has made this available. Knocking off one star because the interface can be a little clunky sometimes, and there are occasional service outages. I also wish there was a joint venture with an English language media outlet to include news articles in this app, in the same way that MLBs At Bat does. That would make the app more useful in between tournaments.
